We are back from Asia, mostly healed up from our various ailments, and ready to dive into a new financial year!
Net Worth: $366,060
Latest cool place we’ve been:
Latest vaguely-labyrinth-like place visited, since I haven’t discovered any actual new labyrinths lately:
That would be a village in Vietnam, and Lien Hoa temple in Ho Chi Minh City.
We’ve been back in Vancouver for a little over a week, after a great trip to Vietnam. For the second time in our travel history, we were able to ring in the new year overseas – this time in bustling Ho Chi Minh City! We are actively looking for great new destinations for 2019, and are strongly considering Japan, Scandinavia, and maybe a winter cruise out of New York City. But anything could happen! We also plan to start island hopping as soon as the weather dries up a bit, commencing Project YIHAW! (Year of Island Hopping And Weighing)
Our net worth has increased by $5,393 since our last update, which is quite reasonable.
It’s hardly worth comparing at two weeks into 2019, but our current year to date non-travel spending is at $1,286, which is right in line with last year’s $1,232 on this date. I’m not going to bother calculating our current savings rate with a grand total of one paycheck.
If we retired immediately, our investments would provide a monthly income of $1,220. That means 100% of our necessities are covered forever – housing, food, bills, household items. At this point we’re only working to pay for vacations and fun things, which is a good spot to be in. We look forward to our stash increasing to cover more fun things in 2019!
